Keeping our heart

Keeping our heart

Keep your heart with all diligence. For out of it spring the issues of life. - Prov 4:23

Every issue of life comes from NOT keeping our heart with ALL diligence.

The whole of life in this world is designed to distract us from our identity. This is why we are in the world but not of the world.

An issue of the world can find it's way into our life when we do not keep our heart with all diligence.

The heart of the matter lies with the matter of the heart.

Whatever that keeps coming your way is the very issue you fail to keep your heart with all diligence.

We are not called to guard our heart against, but to keep our heart with.

If you are always angry, it means you didn't keep your heart joyful with all diligence. You cannot guard against anger. It doesn't work that way. But if you keep your heart full of joy, anger can't get you.

If you are always in lack, it means you didn't keep your heart contented with all diligence. You cannot guard against lack. Contentment releases the supply.

If you are always unwell, it means you didn't keep your heart healed with all diligence.

The list goes on.

How to keep our heart with all diligence? The answer lies in the verses before v23.

They are LIFE to those who find them, and health to all their flesh. - Prov 4:22

The life here refers to the life of God where there is quality and quantity in every aspect. It is this LIFE we need in our heart that protects us from every issue of life (in this world).

But the only way to find this LIFE is to give attention to the Word and incline our ear to the Word (v20). For faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word.

Faith is the only currency for accessing this LIFE; this is how we keep our heart with all diligence and prevent the issues of life from springing up.
