Destroying The Enemy's Works

Destroying The Enemy's Works

More often than not, we think that destroying the works of the devil has to do Matthew 10:8 and Mark 16:17-19.

Heal the sick
Raise the dead
Cast out demons

These are but the fruit (aka result) of destroying the devil's works.

1 John 3:8 tells us that "The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil."

At the same time, 1 John 3:5 says "You know that He appeared in order to take away sins..."

In other words, because Jesus appeared to take away sins, He destroyed the works of the devil.

The removal of sins = the destruction of the works of the devil.

The works of the devil have to do with the practice of sinning. If we practise sin, we are doing the works of the devil.

1 John 3:8 - Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning.

It is impossible to be a Christian and keeps on sinning (1 John 3:6). 1 John brings deep conviction to our hearts. For example, you can't be a Christian and stay LGBTQ at the same time.

Since Jesus had appeared to take away sins, the works of the devil had been destroyed. This is the reason why we can be healed and delivered, because the cause of sicknesses and death had been done away with.

Each time when we practise righteousness, we are reminding the devil that his works are destroyed. The practice of righteousness includes freedom from sin and sicknesses. Jesus!
