Health Is What You Set Your Mind On

Health Is What You Set Your Mind On

On Monday, I woke up with discomfort in my throat. At the same time, I felt weak. I haven't experienced this for a really, really long time.

After a while, I felt feverish. It was a familiar symptom of cold and flu. But this cannot be common to me because I am not a common man. I'm a believer. A believer is holy, set apart by God, and thus, uncommon. What is common to men should never be common to you.

Many carnal thoughts began to hit me.

"You have been taking MRT regularly for the past 6 months. So many people around you in the trains were sick and coughing everywhere. Every train you took had sick people around you. Besides, the trains were always crowded. Of course you will fall sick."

"You have been sharing coffee with your barista colleagues for the past 6 months. You had to share and taste during every single shift to calibrate and judge the brew. Some of them were sick and still shared with you. Of course you will fall sick."

"You have not been sleeping well for the past 7-8 months. Each week, you had at least two nights without any sleep (or perhaps 1-2 hours of rest only). Of course you will fall sick. To last so long is already very good."

"Your wife was just recovering from a flu, and you shared food and soup with her. Of course you will fall sick."

Let me tell you that the enemy will always find opportunity to hit you with carnal thoughts. He will not hit you when you are going strong, but when you are feeling weak.

For to be 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡, but to be 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God... - Rom 8:6-7

The carnal mind is always hostile against God. To think human thoughts is to think carnal thoughts, and it is enmity against God (Matt 16:23). The carnal mind always produces death (which includes sicknesses and diseases). But to think spiritual thoughts is to think like Christ (1 Cor 2:16). The spiritual mind always produces life (God-kind of life which includes healing and health) and peace (total well-being).

𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭... - 2 Cor 10:4-5

To think like the world is to think against the Word. To think like the Word is to think against the world.

The enemy will always want to pull us to the carnal realm. It is normal. It is human. It is logical. It is based on senses, facts and feelings. But our weapons are not carnal. Our weapons are spiritual. It is based on the mind of Christ. It is according to the Word.

The world teaches you that people's sicknesses are contagious; the world teaches you that if you are deprived of sleep, it will affect your health. BUT you CANNOT find these in the Bible!

You either believe in what the world (doctors) says; or you believe in what the Word says.

God is always faithful to His Word. But we are not always faithful to think, speak and act on His Word. So when we don't see His Word fulfilled, it is not about Him; it is about us.

When the carnal thoughts came to me throughout the day, I was at one point thinking if I should let my wife know how I felt. But I am a man of the Word. Nobody will know what I'm really feeling. We don't live by feelings; we are called to live by the Word.

While I felt unwell throughout the day, I acted normal. I went ahead to do what was needed for the day. My wife didn't notice anything. My son didn't realise any difference.

Instead, I brushed off the carnal thoughts with the Word of God whenever they surfaced.

I spoke to my body, "You are whole, healed and well. You walk in divine health."
I spoke to my body, "Lack of sleep has nothing to do with you. You remain healthy and well."

I spoke to myself, "I am dead to sin, which is the root of every sickness and disease. And if I am dead to the root, then I am dead to the result of sin, which is every sickness and disease. So because I am dead to sin, I am dead to every sickness and disease. They cannot touch me because I am alive to God in righteousness. I am alive to righteousness, which is the root of life and health. So because I am alive to righteousness, I am alive to life and health. I am the LIFE and HEALTH of God in Christ Jesus!"

I went stronger and stronger as I spoke and spoke.

As I was lying on my bed at night feeling feverish and knowing that I had to get up very early the next morning, I continued to speak the Word. In fact, I didn't get to sleep because I was concerned that I couldn't get up in time the next day. This had been the case for lack of sleep for so many times for the past several months.

As I laid there on my bed, all the symptoms suddenly left me. Not a single one left. The world will tell you that if you have symptoms and you don't sleep at all, it will get worse. But the Word did what is contrary to the world for me.

The symptoms completely left on the same day because the Word protects and shields me. When you put your faith in the Word, the Word will manifest in and through you. The Word becomes flesh for you.

If any symptom tries to hit you, set your mind on the Word. The Word will settle everything for you.
