God's Call For Your Life Part 1

God's Call For Your Life Part 1

We have been taught by and large that we should find out God's call for our individual lives and walk in His calling. In other words, we are told to drop everything, seek, pray and pursue after what He has called us to do.

However, it seems that we have misunderstood what God's calling really meant. Using the wrong phrase can confuse people.

What if I told you that God's call for every believer is the 𝐒𝐀𝐌𝐄?
What if God's calling for your life is not unique and specific but general because it applies to everyone?

For those whom He foreknew He also 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐒𝐨𝐧, in order that He might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom He predestined 𝐇𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐦 𝐇𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 He also justified, and those whom He justified He also glorified. - Rom 8:29-30

Read the Parable of the Wedding Feast and you will understand more on Matt 22:14 and Romans 8:29-30.

God's call for your life is not some specific works that only you can do. His calling for your life is for you 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭. Nothing more and nothing less.

He has called every individual unto salvation, but only those who responded to His call are chosen (Matt 22:14) and justified (Rom 8:30). 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐨𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥 ----- salvation unto the image of Christ.

Note: This is why the typical church salvation message through sinner's prayer (forgiveness and heaven) is merely half true and incomplete.

For the gifts and 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐨𝐝 are irrevocable. - Romans 11:29

Many preach this verse as God's unique call for your life. But the calling of God in this context refers to God's irrevocable election of Israel as His beloved. Read the whole chapter 11 and you will know that God was referring to Israel's salvation. It is consistent with Romans 8:29-30 on God's calling.

Scriptures interpret Scriptures. Read also Rom 8:28; Eph 4:1; 2 Thes 1:11; 1 Cor 1:2; 2 Peter 1:10; 1 Cor 7:17-24. There are many more consistent verses on God's calling, which is the SAME for every individual.

Hence, why are we trying so hard to pray, "God, what is Your call for my life? What should I do?"

Honestly, you can't find this in the Bible because it's not there and it's not of significant priority in God's eyes. For far too long, we have been focusing on the wrong thing and missing out the main thing.

"God, which course should I take in the University?"
"God, which job should I do?"
"God, which spouse should I choose?"
"God, which house should I buy?"
"God, which blouse should I get?" (pun intended)

The rule of the thumb is this... what is written in the Word is God's priority. It is the MAIN thing. What is not written in the Word is NOT God's priority.

We can get extremely side-tracked in the Kingdom when we try so hard to find out God's calling for our lives when He has already clearly and plainly stated so.

In the next part, I will share more on the kind of work we might have been assigned to.
