The Heart Or The Belly?

The Heart Or The Belly?

Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. - Matt 12:34; Luke 6:45

The word 'heart' in Greek is 'kardia', which can also be used for 'mind, inner self, will, intention, center, etc.' Thayer's Greek Lexicon defines it as 'the center and seat of spiritual life, "the soul or mind, as it is the fountain and seat of the thoughts.'

Mark 11:23 - ...whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt 𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭, but believes...

The word 'heart' here is the same word used in Matt 12:34. Believing has to come from the heart aka 'the center and seat of spiritual life, 𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬.'

Since death and life lies in the power of the tongue, our mouth becomes the point for release ---- whether it's life (through believing, if it is abundantly filled by faith) or death (through doubt, if it is abundantly filled by sight).

Psalm 81:10 - Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

Since God has filled our heart with faith (Rom 12:3) when we were born again, we can open our mouth wide for the release of His life.

John 7:38 says, "...Out of his 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 will flow rivers of living water." Jesus was referring this to the power of the Holy Spirit in Acts 1:8 (Read John 7:39).

Since believing activates the flow of the rivers of living water (aka the power of the Holy Spirit) and that believing is from the heart (read Mark 11:23), when John 7:38 talks about 'out of his heart will flow rivers of living water', it is more likely to be referring to the same inner self ---- 'out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.'

Because the spirit of faith is "I believe, so I speak.' (2 Cor 4:13)

Thayer's Greek Lexicon uses 'the innermost part of a man, the soul, heart, as the 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭, feeling, choice' for John 7:38. This coincides with 'kardia' in Matt 12:34 and Mark 11:23, which is different from what we are normally taught ----- the belly (lower abdomen).

Out of the abundance of the heart (inner self, seat of thoughts, intention, will), the mouth speaks.

Out of his b̵e̵l̵l̵y̵ heart (inner self, seat of thoughts, intention, will) will flow rivers of living water.

Our intention (will and desire) will cause our mouth to speak out what is on the inside. Our intention (will and desire) will cause the power of the Spirit (rivers of living water) to flow out.

I am more and more convinced that it is out of our heart (inner self, seat of thoughts, intention, will) that the Spirit of God flows out. There are many testimonies and encounters that follow through with this thought.

This is why your heart is edified when you speak in tongues. Because if your belly gets edified when you speak in tongues, the belly is going to become one big united nation.

P.S: The human's heart is where life is. It pumps blood to give oxygen through all the cells in the body. When the heart stops, life stops. The life of God ('zoe') flows into your life (heart) when you are in union with Him.
