Remain Hidden

Remain Hidden

For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. - Col 3:3

Very often, we forget that we have died with Christ on the Cross (Gal 2:20; Rom 6:11). When we try to think of ourselves, we are setting our mind on things on earth (Col 3:2); we no longer intentionally remain hidden in Christ.

This is when we walk out of His protection.

Psalm 91:1 says that He who dwells in the 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 of the Most High shall abide under the 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐰 of the Almighty.

'Shadow' speaks of His protection. However, in order to hide under His protection, we need to dwell in the secret place of the Most High. The Hebrew word for 'secret place' is also 𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠.

The secret place of the Most High or the 'covering' is where King David understood to be a literal place of communion.

You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the Testimony that I will give you. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐭, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the Testimony, about everything which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel. - Exo 25:21-22

The Hebrew word for 'mercy seat' is 'propitiatory'. It's root meaning is '𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫'. So the mercy seat is a covering over the Ark of the Covenant in the tabernacle, in the Holy of Holies (or the Most Holy Place).

In the 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 of His tabernacle He shall hide me... - Ps 27:5

He who dwells in the secret place (covering or mercy seat) will hide under God's protection. In the New Covenant, the mercy seat is no longer a literal place in the tabernacle.

...being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐬, whom God set forth as a 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness... - Rom 3:24-25

The word 'propitiation' in the Greek means '𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐭'. See also Hebrews 9:5 (Scriptures interpret Scriptures).

Since Christ is our propitiation (1 John 2:2), He is also our mercy seat. Today, when we 𝐝𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭, we are dwelling in the secret place of the Most High.

For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. - Col 3:3

Since Christ is our covering, we must be intentional to remain hidden in Him. The shield of faith which extinguishes 𝐀𝐋𝐋 the flaming arrows of the evil ones (Eph 6:16) is to acknowledge and agree that the life which we now live is in and through the Son of God (Gal 2:20).

As long as we remain hidden (not thinking 'us'), but Him, we can walk under God's protection where the enemy cannot hit us.

P.S: Since Christ is our covering, no man of God can be your covering.
