The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, and a good report makes the bones healthy. - Prov 15:30
What we see determines if we bring to our heart. This proverbs can be corresponded with Christ's teaching in Matthew.
“The eye is the lamp of the body; so then, 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐲𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫, your whole body will be full of light." - Matt 6:22 NASB
The NASB is a great representation of the Greek language in this verse. The word 'clear' in Greek is literally 'single'. It means 'without folds, referring to a single, undivided focus.'
𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞, 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 has an effect on our heart. What you focus on, your heart receives its effect. If you focus on what is good and beautiful, your heart receives joy for what is good and beautiful. If you focus on what is bad, your heart receives sorrow for what is evil and bad.
Proverbs 15:30 continues with 'and a good report makes the bones healthy.'
Isaiah 53:1 says, "𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭?" Isaiah was referring to Christ. He continued in verse 4-5.
However, 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐇𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐦𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐇𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝; yet we ourselves assumed that He had been afflicted, struck down by God, and humiliated. 𝐁𝐔𝐓 He was pierced for our offenses, He was crushed for our wrongdoings; the punishment for our well-being was laid upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed. - Isa 53:4-5 NASB (emphasis added)
In order for our body to be FULL of light (Matt 6:22), we need to see with clarity; single and undivided focus. The only good report we focus on should be Isaiah's report on Christ.
Put away the doctor's report.
Put away your loved ones' report.
Put away others' report.
We have assumed that Jesus was afflicted, struck down by God and afflicted. That is simply untrue. God did not strike His Son (God), though we interpreted it that way. This is why Isaiah said that "we ourselves assumed... 𝐁𝐔𝐓 He was pierced for our offenses..." The reason for 'BUT' is that the truth is different from what we assumed.
The Gospel is not about a holy God releasing His wrath upon humanity on His own Son. On the contrary, it is about God crushing sin and its effect through His Son.
Let our eyes be singled on Isaiah's report --- 𝐛𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐝. This report penetrates into your inner being (bones), affecting the whole body.
